Starred (favourite) pastes

Starring a paste marks it as one of your favourites so the pastes you use every day stay close while the rest of your library stays out of the way. "Starred" and "favourite" mean the same thing in PasteBase — the star icon is just how you mark the favourite.

How to star a paste

Every paste row on a team page has a small star icon in the first column. Click it once and the star fills in — that paste is now one of your favourites. Click again to remove it. Your change is saved immediately, with no extra "save" step.

You can star pastes regardless of your role on the team. Favourites are personal, so even members who can't edit pastes can still mark their own.

Filtering to just your favourites

Above your paste list, next to the Category filter, you'll see a "Starred" button. Click it to hide every paste that isn't one of your favourites. Click it again to show everything. The filter works alongside search and category filters — so you can, for example, see starred pastes in the "Support" category that contain a specific word.

Your filter choice is remembered between visits. If you left "Starred" on when you logged out, it will still be on when you return.

Sorting favourites to the top

The star column header is clickable, the same way the Category and Title headers are. Click it once to float your favourite pastes to the top of the list. Click it again to flip the order, or click a third time to clear the sort.

Sorting and filtering are independent. You can filter to favourites only, sort favourites to the top, or do both — whatever fits how you work.

Are favourites shared with my team?

No. Every team member has their own personal set of starred pastes. What you favourite is visible only to you. This applies to everyone, including team owners. The underlying pastes are still shared with the team as usual — starring just adds a personal bookmark on top of the shared library, without affecting anyone else's view.

Do my favourites work on my shared link?

Yes. If you've generated a shareable link for quick copy access on another device, the same star column, "Starred" filter, and sort option appear there. Any paste you star on the shared page also shows as starred in the web app, and vice versa — your favourites are a single list that follows you everywhere.

What's the difference between favourites and categories?

They solve different problems. Categories organize a team's library into topics that make sense for everyone — "Support", "Sales", "Onboarding". Favourites are a personal shortcut to the handful of pastes you reach for most often, regardless of category. Use categories to structure the library for the team; use stars to speed up your own workflow.

Can I see who else has starred a paste?

No. Starred status is private to each user and isn't surfaced anywhere else — not in the paste list, not in team settings, and not in the admin view. If you need team-wide visibility on which pastes are most used, look at the most-copied rankings on your dashboard instead.
