Invite members
Once you've created a team, you'll want to bring your colleagues on board. PasteBase uses email-based invitations to add new members to a team. As the team Owner or an Editor, you can send invitations directly from the team settings page.
Sending an invitation
Navigate to your team's settings and look for the invite section. Enter the email address of the person you want to invite and select the role you'd like to assign them. You can choose from Member (view and copy only), Editor (can also create and edit pastes), or Owner (full control). Then send the invitation.
PasteBase will send an email to the invitee with a unique invitation link. The email includes the team name and the role they've been invited to, so they know what to expect before accepting.
Invitation expiry
Invitations are valid for 3 days from the time they're sent. After that, the invitation link expires and can no longer be used. If someone misses the window, you'll need to send a new invitation. This expiry keeps your team secure by ensuring old, forgotten invitation links don't remain active indefinitely.
Accepting an invitation
When the invitee clicks the link in their email, they'll be taken to PasteBase. If they already have a PasteBase account, they can log in and accept the invitation to join the team. If they don't have an account yet, they'll need to register first — after completing registration and email verification, they can accept the invitation.
Assigning roles
When you send an invitation, you choose the role for the new member. Think carefully about what level of access they need:
- Member — Can view and copy pastes, but cannot create, edit, or delete them. Good for people who just need to use the pastes.
- Editor — Can create, edit, and delete pastes in addition to viewing and copying. Good for people who actively maintain the paste collection.
- Owner — Full control including managing members and team settings. Reserve this for people who need administrative access.
You can change a member's role later from the team settings, so don't worry too much about getting it perfect on the first invite. For a detailed breakdown, see roles and permissions.
Troubleshooting
If your invitee says they didn't receive the email, ask them to check their spam or junk folder. The invitation email is sent from your PasteBase instance's configured email address. If the email consistently doesn't arrive, check that your PasteBase instance has email sending properly configured.
