What is PasteBase?

PasteBase is a self-hosted paste and snippet manager designed for teams and individuals who find themselves typing the same things over and over. If you regularly copy-paste email templates, code snippets, canned support responses, configuration files, or any other reusable text, PasteBase gives you a single place to store, organize, and share it all.

The problem PasteBase solves

Most people keep their reusable text scattered across sticky notes, text files, browser bookmarks, or buried in old email threads. When a team is involved, the problem gets worse — everyone has their own version of the "standard" reply, and there's no single source of truth. PasteBase fixes this by giving you a central library of pastes that you and your team can access from any browser.

Key features

  • Three editor types — Rich text for formatted content like email templates, plain text for simple notes and quick snippets, and a full code editor with syntax highlighting for developers.
  • One-click copy — Every paste has a copy button. Click it and the content is on your clipboard, ready to paste wherever you need it.
  • Team collaboration — Create teams, invite members, and share paste collections. Role-based access means you control who can edit and who can only view.
  • Categories — Organize your pastes with free-form categories. Filter and sort to find what you need quickly.
  • Shareable links — Generate a quick-access link to any team's paste collection so people can browse and copy without needing an account.
  • Self-hosted — Your data stays on your own server. No third-party cloud services, no data leaving your infrastructure.

Who is PasteBase for?

PasteBase works well for a wide range of use cases:

  • Support teams who need shared canned responses that stay consistent and up to date.
  • Developers who want a personal library of code snippets, shell commands, and configuration templates.
  • Sales teams who send similar outreach emails and follow-ups and want to work from approved templates.
  • Individuals who are tired of retyping the same addresses, instructions, or boilerplate text.
  • Any team that needs a shared, searchable repository of reusable text content.

How it works in practice

After you create an account, PasteBase automatically sets up a personal team for you. This is your private workspace — only you can see it. From there, you can create pastes using whichever editor type fits your content. When you're ready to collaborate, create a shared team, invite your colleagues, and start building a shared paste library together.

When you need to use a paste, just find it in your list, click the copy button, and paste it into your email client, terminal, chat app, or wherever you need it. It's that simple.
