Account setup

Getting started with PasteBase takes just a few minutes. Here's everything that happens when you create your account and what you need to do to start using the app.

Registration

Visit the PasteBase registration page and fill in your details: email address, a display name, and a password. Your email address will be used for login and for receiving important notifications like team invitations and password resets.

Choose a strong password that you don't use on other services. PasteBase stores passwords securely using Django's built-in hashing, but a strong password is always your first line of defense.

Email verification

After registering, PasteBase sends a verification email to the address you provided. You need to click the verification link in that email before you can access the app. This step confirms that you own the email address and ensures you can receive important notifications.

If you don't see the verification email, check your spam or junk folder. You can request a new verification email from the verification page if needed. Until your email is verified, you'll be redirected to the verification notice whenever you try to access the app.

Your personal team

When you register, PasteBase automatically creates a personal team for you. This team is your private workspace — it's only visible to you and cannot be deleted. Your personal team name is derived from your email address, giving you a recognizable space that's just yours.

Think of your personal team as your private clipboard library. Any pastes you create here are visible only to you. Later, when you want to share pastes with colleagues, you can create additional shared teams.

Profile settings

Once you're logged in, you can update your profile settings at any time. Your display name is what other team members see when you're part of a shared team. You can change it from your profile page without affecting your login email.
