Help Center Account & Settings Email verification

Email verification

PasteBase requires every user to verify their email address before they can access the app. This is a one-time step that happens right after registration. Once your email is verified, you won't be asked again.

Why verification is required

Email verification serves several important purposes:

  • Confirms ownership — It proves you actually own the email address you registered with, preventing someone from signing up with your email.
  • Enables communication — PasteBase uses your email for team invitations, password resets, and important account notifications. Verifying ensures these messages reach you.
  • Protects your team — When you see a team member's email, you know they've proven they own it. This prevents impersonation within teams.

How to verify your email

After registering, PasteBase sends a verification email to the address you provided. The email contains a unique verification link. Simply click the link and your email will be marked as verified. You'll then be redirected to the app and can start using PasteBase immediately.

What happens before verification

Until you verify your email, PasteBase's middleware will redirect you to the verification notice page whenever you try to access the app. You can't view teams, create pastes, or access any features. This enforcement is automatic — there's no way to bypass it as a regular user. The verification notice page will show you the email address that needs to be verified and give you the option to resend the verification email.

Resending the verification email

If you didn't receive the verification email or it expired, you can request a new one from the verification notice page. Click the resend button and PasteBase will send a fresh verification email to your registered address. Each resend generates a new verification token, so only the most recent email's link will work.

Troubleshooting

If the verification email isn't arriving:

  • Check your spam folder — Email filters sometimes catch automated messages. Look in your spam, junk, or promotions folder.
  • Check the email address — Make sure you registered with the correct email. A typo in your address means the verification email goes to the wrong place.
  • Wait a few minutes — Email delivery isn't always instant. Give it a few minutes before resending.
  • Contact your administrator — If you're on a self-hosted PasteBase instance and emails aren't being sent at all, the instance administrator may need to configure the email sending settings.
